Babylon Series: Part 1 On Being Offended in a Pagan World spacer Babylon Series: Part 1 On Being Offended in a Pagan World
BY: Denis Haack
Indeed, there is much to offend Christians in postmodern culture, and much offense is taken. So much so, in fact, that the issue is worth examining a bit more closely.

Babylon Series: Part 10 Listening to Babylonian Stories spacer Babylon Series: Part 10 Listening to Babylonian Stories
BY: Denis Haack
Sometimes the stories of a generation are told by parents, or read in books, or told by storytellers as people sit under the stars around a fire—but the stories are always present.

Babylon Series: Part 12 Getting to the Gospel spacer Babylon Series: Part 12 Getting to the Gospel

Unlike “evangelistic encounters” which require us to insert the Big Questions into the conversation, discussing a movie allows the film to raise the Big Questions. Since most people love to talk about movies, the setting provides a safe context for conversation.

Babylon Series: Part 13 Caring Enough to Probe spacer Babylon Series: Part 13 Caring Enough to Probe
BY: Denis Haack
Imagine you are sitting with some friends—perhaps at work or a coffee shop—and one says he’d like some advice. “Ashley and I have been going out for almost a year,” Justin says. “We really hit it off, love the same music, and enjoy hanging out. So, we’re thinking of moving in together. One of us is always staying at the other’s apartment anyway, so we could save time and a pile of money if we consolidated living arrangements..."

spacer There are tulips on my desk, and I saw my first robin yesterday, clear signals that winter is losing its grip on the landscape. The newspaper reported an ice jam on a nearby river that forced the closure of several roads. Chunks of ice the size of dinner tables slammed through a county park. Even something as glorious of the arrival of spring is never as perfectly smooth as we would hope in this broken world. We are, as my spiritual mentor used to say, glorious ruins.

Finding what it means to flourish as broken human being in an imperfect world is what Ransom is about. We believe in Jesus Christ, though often find ourselves dismayed at what passes for Christianity in our postmodern world. We hope what you find on this site will be helpful in your own pilgrimage, regardless of where you happen to find yourself at the moment.
