Understanding Scripture Correctly (I) spacer Understanding Scripture Correctly (I)
BY: Denis Haack
It is a dangerous conceit to imagine that when we read the text of Scripture we do so from an entirely neutral vantage point. I must never assume that an interpretation is obviously correct merely because it is obvious to me.

Trust In A Financial Crisis spacer Trust In A Financial Crisis
BY: Denis Haack
In a crisis of trust, a society should be able to look to those communities within it for which trust is a way of life for a model of what a restoration of trust would look like. The church, it should go without saying, should provide such a model.

“A Few Like You”: Will the Church be the Church for Homosexual Christians? spacer “A Few Like You”: Will the Church be the Church for Homosexual Christians?
BY: Wesley Hill
"I am drawn to the haunting confessions of W.H. Auden’s because I, too, am a homosexual Christian. Though I have never been in a gay relationship as Auden was, I have also never experienced the 'healing' that some formerly gay Christians profess to have received. But I remain a Christian, a follower of Jesus."

Sin that Afflicts the Righteous spacer Sin that Afflicts the Righteous
BY: Eugene H. Peterson
... But there is one form of sin that flourishes in religious communities in ways hardly possible outside of them—it begins in places of worship. Religious communities provide the conditions for this spiritual disorder, this sin, far in excess to what is provided in the secularized world.

Why the Gospel Isn’t a Romantic Comedy spacer Why the Gospel Isn’t a Romantic Comedy
BY: Brian Watkins
...we often impose an incorrect version of the Christian narrative onto our stories. This belief states that the Christian narrative is clean and devoid of violence. This belief is wrong.

spacer There are tulips on my desk, and I saw my first robin yesterday, clear signals that winter is losing its grip on the landscape. The newspaper reported an ice jam on a nearby river that forced the closure of several roads. Chunks of ice the size of dinner tables slammed through a county park. Even something as glorious of the arrival of spring is never as perfectly smooth as we would hope in this broken world. We are, as my spiritual mentor used to say, glorious ruins.

Finding what it means to flourish as broken human being in an imperfect world is what Ransom is about. We believe in Jesus Christ, though often find ourselves dismayed at what passes for Christianity in our postmodern world. We hope what you find on this site will be helpful in your own pilgrimage, regardless of where you happen to find yourself at the moment.
