The School of Life: Discernment Exercise spacer The School of Life: Discernment Exercise
BY: Denis Haack
For the month of December (2011), The School of Life sponsored a project they defined as an attempt to help people find creative ways to demonstrate compassion, to learn to reach out to others instead of remaining locked in the confines of their own narrow boundaries. Day by day a task was assigned that people could choose to accomplish.

Internalizing the Scriptures: Discernment Exercise spacer Internalizing the Scriptures: Discernment Exercise
BY: Denis Haack
"We live today in a world impoverished of story; so it is not surprising that many of us have picked up the bad habit of extracting ‘truths’ from the stories we read..."

God, Jehovah, and Allah: Discernment Exercise spacer God, Jehovah, and Allah: Discernment Exercise
BY: Denis Haack
Some will object to the notion that Christians, Jews, and Muslims are members of the same household or family, while others will be comfortable with this language, insisting that semantics should not stand in the way of learning from one another. Praying with the Earth is written so as to be acceptable to Jewish, Christian, and Muslim believers.

Should Christians Wear This Sh**t?: Discernment Exercise spacer Should Christians Wear This Sh**t?: Discernment Exercise
BY: Denis Haack
It is so easy in our freedom-of-speech country to flippantly speak out against authority and those in positions of leadership. This nonchalant attitude has so influenced the church to a point that we don't think twice about what we say (or wear) when it comes to Christ.

spacer This year spring came late to southern Minnesota, and when it arrived it brought chilly temperatures, cloudy skies, and lots of rain. Whether it is because of these factors or something entirely different I don't know, but 2013 has turned out to be The Year of the Morel. If you have never sampled these delicious mushrooms, you are in for a treat. We've found them on more than one walk in the woods, and so feel we have had a special opportunity to experience one of the wonders of creation.

Morels, goldfinches, a well crafted film, an iris bursting into bloom, a chance for an unhurried conversation in a safe place--such glimmers of hope help us flourish as persons in this broken world. These are the sort of things we are concerned with at Ransom. Thanks for visiting.
